How you can help me
Protector is issued free of charge. If you find it useful, please
consider helping by using the www.lowth.com website as your gateway
into Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk when you buy books, music, computers
etc from them. This costs you nothing extra - but Amazon pay me a small
commission on any purchases you make via this route.
Please use the following links to get to the right Amazon site
If you are from another location - just choose the one nearest to you.
Thanks

The exact procedure you need to employ to download the files depends on the web browser you are
using, and (for some of them) on how it is configured, but it is likely to be something like the
following ...
1: Download the files onto your computer
From the table of attachments at the bottom of this page, select (click on) the name of the file
to be downloaded and use the "download" dialogue that your browser displays to select the location
on your hard drive that you want the file to be saved. If you get garbage on the screen instead of
a download dialogue box, try clicking on the file name below with the right mouse button and
selecting the "save as", "save link as", "save link" or equivalent option.
2: Copy to your linux or Solaris server
If you have downloaded the files using a system other than the one you intend to run the software
on, you should copy the files to your server.
3: Unpack the tar-ball
If the name of the file you have downloaded has a name that ends with ".tgz" or ".tar.gz", then
you must uncompress (using gunzip) and untar (using the tar utility) the file.
4: Read and follow the installation instructions
In the directory created by unpacking the tar-ball, you will find a file called "INSTALL" or
"INSTALL.html". Read this file, and follow the instructions contained in it.
After downloading the tar ball, you should verify it's correctness using one of the following unix commands...
| Unix shell Command | Expected return |
sum -r protector-1.00.8.tgz | 06048 174 protector-1.00.8.tgz |
md5sum protector-1.00.8.tgz | 9940fcf465067354c8dc2a9824cbd766 protector-1.00.8.tgz |
- You may also be interested to check out some contributed add-ons, including translations of the messages files into languages other than English.
